![]() ![]() The Kate Shugak books are reviewed first and the Liam Campbell books after. The author, as a native (although not tribal) Alaskan provides an insight that Outsiders would not be able to give. ![]() I am very attracted to the ever-present view of the various problems faced by the tribal Alaskans. I love the humor in the books, but the tragedy of life is always there. The Liam Campbell series starts out at a more mature level of character development, but I liked even the first Kate Shugak book. In both series what I really like is the maturing of the the main characters as they learn to deal with their demons and lives. I prefer the Kate Shugak books but there are themes throughout the Liam Campbell books I really enjoy, especially his relationship with the raven and the character Moses. I will basically discuss Kate Shugak’s world and Liam Campbell’s world as learned through reading these books. In these reviews I will discuss the mysteries minimally, as that would really not be fair to the author. ![]()
